Raymond Chan Wine Reviews

17.5/20, 4 stars
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, lighter on the rim.  The nose is very elegant in presentation, quite reserved, with delicate aromas of ripe green stonefruits, gooseberries and greengages, unfolding subtle, nutty, oaky detail and nuances of fresh herbs, cut grass, savoury citrus fruits and minerals.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a tightly concentrated core, revealing restrained flavours of green stonefruits, gooseberries and greengages, along with mineral elements.  This is mouthwatering from the refreshing acidity and fine, dry chalky textures.  The palate has good linearity, the grip and structure carrying the wine to a sustained, dry, grainy finish with gooseberry and green stonefruit flavours.  This I a tightly concentrated Sauvignon/Semillon blend with gooseberry and green stonefruit flavours, and a crisp, minerally, chalky texture and linearity.  Match with herb-marinated seafood, poultry and veal over the next 3-4+ years.  A blend of 81% Sauvignon Blanc, 14% Semillon and 5% Muscat Petit Grains from the ‘Askerne’ and ‘Craft Farm’ vineyards, Havelock North, the Sauvignon and Muscat tank-fermented and the Semillon indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned oak to 13.0% alc. and <2 g/L RS, ta 7.73 g/L and pH 2.96.  140 dozen made.

94/100, 5 stars
Made in the classic white Bordeaux style, this stylish expression displays complex aromas of lemon peel, almond, beeswax, hay and dried herbs on the nose. The palate is concentrated and focused, and offers linear mouthfeel as well as lovely roundness, brilliantly structured by bright acidity. The wine is elegant, engaging and lingering. A blend of sauvignon blanc (81%), semillon (14%) and muscat petits grains (5%). At its best: now to 2022.
